ENP STAFF REPORTS

APPLETON — A Pit Bull was stolen from a West Somerset Road home Tuesday morning.
According to a report filed with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, sometime between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m., the homeowner heard "what sounded like a vehicle stop on the road just east of her residence. (She) also heard the Pit Bull barking, which she kept in a kennel in the back yard. After one or two barks the dog stopped and (the complainant) didn't think anything of it because it sounded like the car pulled away."
Later when the woman went to feed the dog, she found that it was gone and that the chain that it was on was just laying in the kennel and not broken, suggesting that the dog was unhooked from the chain by someone.
The Pit Bull is brown in color, has an orange collar and responds to the name "Jagger."
The owner told patrol that the dog was rescued from an animal shelter about a year ago and hasn't had any problems in the past.
Case is closed pending new information.
