BUFFALO — The Buffalo Sabres goal for the night was to get more shots against the opposing goaltender in hopes of beating the Ottawa Senators. They got it half right.
The Sabres outshot Ottawa 36-26, but only gained one goal on their 36 shots vs. the pair Ottawa got on their 26. The Sabres recorded only 10 shots on goal Sunday evening against the New York Islanders.
Ottawa got on the board first tonight with a power play goal by Erik Karlsson at 12:18 of the first period. Kyle Turris and Mark Stone assisted on the goal.
After a scoreless second period, Tyler Myers scored his fourth goal of the season for the Sabres at 5:08 of the third, assisted by Matt Moulson and Chris Stewart. Milan Michalek made it 2-1 Ottawa, however, at 12:15. Patrick Wiercioch and Mike Hoffman got the assists on the final goal of the game.
The Sabres record now stands at 16-36-3. They next play against the Philadelphia Flyers Sunday night at the First Niagara Center.
