PHILADELPHIA — The Buffalo Sabres won only their sixth road game of the season tonight, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in a shootout.
Each team scored a goal in the first and second period, with Buffalo's goals coming from Nicholas Deslauriers at 4:41 of the first and Brian Gionta just 38 seconds into the second period, and Philly's coming from Ryan White at 7:23 of the first period and Jakub Voracek at 8:45 of the second period.
Following a scoreless third period and scoreless overtime, the two teams went to a shootout. Gionta and Brian Flynn each scored for the Sabres in the shootout, securing the win for the Blue & Gold.
With the victory, the Sabres record now stands at 17-37-4.
The Sabres will play a makeup game Friday night against the New York Rangers that was postponed from Nov. 21. Fans who have a valid ticket to the Nov. 21 game will simply be able to use it for the 7 p.m. game at the First Niagara Center. Fans who are unable to attend the rescheduled game will be able to exchange their unused tickets for tickets to any available home game. Tickets can be exchanged on Sabres.com or by visiting the box office at First Niagara Center.
The Sabres were originally scheduled to play the Ottawa Senators Friday night, however, that game was moved to Dec. 15. The Sabres won 5-4 in a shootout. Tickets for the Friday (Feb. 20) game vs. Ottawa will not be valid for the New York Rangers game.
