A 26-year-old Lewis Street man is charged with burglary after police say he was caught red-handed exiting a Washburn Street apartment with a pair of headphones.

According to the LPD arrest report, Benjamin N. Carter, 66 Lewis St., Apt. 1, was seen exiting the apartment around 11:16 p.m. Tuesday with the headphones after a witness called police to report a burglary in progress. In addition to the headphones, Carter was found to be in possession of a Blu-ray, a large black pocket knife and three bags of suspected marijuana.

Police believe Carter used the pocket knife to gain entry to the apartment in order to steal the items, which the owner states have a value of $250.

In addition to second-degree burglary, Carter was charged with petit larceny, possession of burglar's tools, possession of stolen property and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He is due in City Court on Monday.
