PEMBROKE ― A 37-year-old Gasport man was charged Saturday with DWI following a one-vehicle crash on State Route 5.
According to a report from New York State Police, Janda was eastbound on State Route 5 when he left the south shoulder and struck a snow embankment. Janda was in an ambulance upon the trooper’s arrival. During the interviewing process in the ambulance, Troopers determined him to be intoxicated.
Janda was taken to ECMC by Mercy Ambulance for precautionary reasons. There he refused to provide a blood sample to the troopers but did provide a blood sample prior to the trooper’s arrival. Janda was subsequently charged with DWI. Troopers charged him with speed not reasonable, failure to use designated lane and driving across hazardous markings, in addition to the DWI.
He is scheduled to return to the Town of Pembroke court on March 12.
