WILSON — A 24-year-old Newfane man was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and traffic violations following a stop on Chestnut Road Friday morning.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Nick E. Turvey Jr., 5332 Chestnut Road, Newfane, was traveling east on Chestnut Road around 8 a.m. when he made an abruput u-turn, then proceeding west on Chestnut Road. Patrol followed and caught up with Turvey in a parking lot at Chestnut and Beebe roads.

Interviewing Beebe, patrol found his license to be revoked. While he was being searched after being charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, he was found to have three Valium pills in his front coat pocket.

He was taken to Niagara County Jail and held on $250 bail. He was issued an appearance ticket for the controlled substance charge, the aggravated unlicensed operation charge, as well as making an improper u-turn. He is to return to Town of Wilson Court on March 10.
