TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 21-year-old man was charged with possession of marijuana by Niagara County Sheriff's deputies Friday night after being stopped for running a red light.

According to the NCSO report, Branden D. Wehrmeyer, 6931 Lockwood Lane, was stopped on Robinson Road for the red light infraction. While police were talking with him, they could smell marijuana. Wehrmeyer admitted to having marijuana on him and handed over a joint to patrol.

While searching the vehicle patrol found more suspected marijuana in the glove compartment. A DMV check revealed Wehrmeyer's license to be suspended.

He was remanded to Niagara County Jail and held on $250 bail, with a return date to the Town of Lockport Court, on Tuesday. The vehicle was removed by Harrington's Towing. The suspected marijuana was placed in a secure evidence locker with the appropriate paperwork attached.
