news@eastniagarapost.com
A 29-year-old Clinton Street man was charged Thursday evening with giving police a false ID and marijuana possession.
Anthony J. Vandenbosch, 362 Clinton St., was stopped on Green Street around 5:09 p.m. as part of a warrant execution.
When patrol approached the vehicle, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When patrol asked Vandenbosch who he was, he gave a false name, according to the NCSO arrest report.
Police noticed that Vandenbosch had a bag of a green leafy substance near his person that smelled of marijuana to which he freely admitted it was. Vandenbosch was detained and searched. A driver's license inside his wallet identified him as Vandenbosch, after which he was charged with false impersonation as well as the marijuana charge.
He was remanded to the Niagara County Jail with a $250 bail and ordered to appear in the City of Lockport Court on Friday to answer the charges.
The suspected marijuana was sealed in an evidence bag and secured in NCSO evidence lockers for further testing.
