SYRACUSE — Down 4-3 after the second period, the Lockport Express tallied a pair of goals in the third period to beat the Syracuse Stampede.

Lockport's Anthony Merante opened the scoring five minutes into the first period, assisted by Nick Siracuse.

Austin Kesperek made it 2-0 Lockport 7:43 into the second period with Alex Bottenfield and Christopher Gasiewicz tallying the assists. Braeden Pearl made it 2-1 at 9:09, assisted by Erik Smith. Syracuse tied it up two minutes and 10 seconds later on a goal by Dan Buehler with Travis Bobb and Joey Dupuis being awarded the assists. Lockport's Ryan Logar made it 3-2 at 14:20. Daniel Golba and Bottenfield were awarded the assists. At 16:26, Syracuse tied it again on a Travis Hyde Goal. Josh Wallace and Bobb got the assists. Wallace then made it 4-3 with just eight seconds left to play in the period with Bobb getting another assist.

In the third, Lockport tied it again on a Justin Blake goal. Dillon Hayes assisted at 8:53. Then at 10:40, Jeff Avolio put the Express up for good, 5-4. Justin Durkee and Syracuse netted the assists.

Tyler Shotwell made 15 saves on 19 shots to win the game. The Express had 24 shots against Syracuse.

With the win, the Express are 17-6, while the Stampede fall to 7-18-2. The same two teams face off again at 11 a.m. Sunday.
