BOSTON — The Buffalo Sabres dropped their third straight game Sunday night, falling in overtime to the Boston Bruins.
It was a back-and-forth outing with the Bruins' Dougie Hamilton getting on the boards first at 5:52 of the first period. Carl Soderberg and Loui Eriksson assisted on the power play goal.
In the second, Andrej Meszaros tied it up for Buffalo at 6:06, assisted by Chris Stewart and Johan Larsson. Rasmus Ristolainen made it 2-1 Sabres at 14:36, assisted by Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons. Exactly one minute later, Boston re-gained the lead on a goal by Chris Kelly, assisted by Zdeno Chara and Hamilton.
In the third, Tim Schaller tied it for the Sabres at 1:27. Nicolas Deslauriers and Brian Flynn got the helpers. It stayed 3-2 until Hamilton tied it for the Bruins at 18:29. Patrice Bergeron and Reilly Smith were awarded the assists on the tying goal.
In overtime, Loui Eriksson won it for the Bruins at 2:14. Milan Lucic and Chara got the assists on the goal.
The Sabres next play the Red Wings in Detriot at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
