MIDDLEPORT — Middleport Volunteer Fire Co. was called to Peet Street Wednesday afternoon for a working fire on a two-story home.

The fire, reported shortly after 4 p.m., was contained to an upstairs bedrrom — and the firefighters kept it from spreading before finally extinguishing it.

Observers say a man and his three children were home at the time and all escaped without injury. They will be staying with other family in the area until proper repairs can be made.

Fire investigators were on hand to determine the cause of the blaze. The family affected by the fire would stay with family.
