Lockport Express Head Coach Frank Vecchio needed help to carry all the food the team collected to donate to Sister Helen's Food Pantry at St. John's Outreach Center this morning.

The team brought bags and boxes of food for the pantry to distribute to the city's needy.

Sister Helen’s Food Pantry, which is affiliated with the Food Bank of Western New York, distributes food three days a week in addition to special distributions of complete meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Michael Boron, the director of St. John's Outreach Center, was on hand to accept the donation and help Vecchio bring the food items in.

Lockport's Junior A hockey team had collected food donations at Cornerstone CFCU Arena and had urged hockey fans to contribute to the cause.

The team is on break until Jan. 10 when they take on the Syracuse Stampede in Syracuse.
