BUFFALO -- There were low numbers for the Buffalo Sabres' fifth victory of the 2014-2015 season.
The stands were nearly empty and the Sabres got off a mere 14 shots, but they still managed to beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1.
Nicolas Deslauriers kicked off the scoring at 5:25 of the second period with a wrist shot, assisted by Cody McCormick and Rasmus Ristolainen. Brent Burns tied the game at 1 on a power play goal at 10:29 with a slap shot, assisted by Joe Thornton and Logan Couture. A minute later, Brian Gionta put the Sabres up 2-1 off a snap shot with the help of Brian Flynn and Tyler Myers. Flynn got a goal of his own at 19:48 -- a wrist shot, assisted by Gionta and Mike Weber, putting the Sabres up 3-1.
In the third, Gionta scored on another wrist shot, assisted by Myers and Andrej Meszaros at 19:18, making the final 4-1 Sabres.
Due to the weather, the Sabres are offering a ticket exchange from tonight's game. Fans who couldn't make it to First Niagara Center can trade their tickets in for any one of 11 upcoming home games. For more information, click here.
