With the snow storm in the southtowns continuing to wreak havoc, Niagara County emergency responders are heeding the call.

Crews confirmed in or headed to Erie County to assist in whatever means possible include Wrights Corners, Olcott, Sanborn, and the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base fire companies, as well as Niagara County Technical Rescue Team.

On Tuesday, several Niagara County police agencies lent a hand, as did road crews from the county and five towns.

As much as seven feet of snow has pummeled the southtowns, leading to eight deaths so far. This morning, the roof of a nursing home collapsed, displacing over 100 residents. Also a trailer park in West Seneca is being evacuated due to the high volume of snow.

While more snow is expected south of Buffalo, Niagara County has gotten away mostly unscathed and the upcoming weather forecast calls for less than an inch of accumulation before the weekend, when the snow is expected to turn to rain.
