Famed Lockport painter Joseph Whalen will sign copies of his 2015 calendar from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the newly opened Ticklebridge Co-op Market in the Historic Bewley Building.
Each of the 12 paintings featured in this year's edition are from private collections. Many of the owners of the works have shared their thoughts about their piece. Those thoughts along with Joe's have been combined to offer a brief insight to each painting. As another little bonus this year, Joe has included a new small image at the bottom corner of each page appropriately themed for each month.
The cost of the calendar is $25 — $5 dollars of which will be donated to the YWCA's anti domestic violence campaign for which Joe recently donated a powerful work of art specifically painted to be used for posters and other marketing materials. The donation will apply to all of the 2015 calendars sold this year. In addition, 20% of any other items featuring Whalen's work sold at Ticklebridge on Saturday will also be donated to the cause. Items include reproductions, books, and greeting cards.
Ticklebridge is open from 10:00 am - 4:00 on Saturday.
After Saturday, the calendar will be available at additional locations including the Niagara County History Center, 215 Niagara St., and the Art & Soul Gift Shop in the Market Street Art Studios, 247 Market St. It will also be available for purchase through the Niagara Art Trail at NiagaraArtTrail.com or by calling 609-0433.
