Increased law enforcement patrol units from Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 resulted in 15 DWI arrests across Niagara County.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Niagara Falls Police Department, North Tonawanda Police Department, New York State Parks Police, Lockport Police Department, Middleport Police Department, Lewiston Police Department, Town of Niagara Police Department,and the Somerset Police Department all participated in the "Halloween DWI Crackdown Enforcement."
All agencies involved utilized increased patrol units that were specifically designated for DWI enforcement. These extra patrol units also had an additional 12 arrests and issued approximately 163 traffic tickets.
Future "crackdown" periods are already scheduled in 2014 with all agencies being involved, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
