ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Sometime between Sunday morning and this morning, a thief stole numerous products from storage trailers behind Rite Aid, 6616 Lincoln Ave.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office report, an unknown person forcibly made entry into two of the storage trailers located on the south/rear side of the building.
Employees of the store had been inside of the trailers on at 9 a.m. Sunday to get merchandise to stock the shelves inside of the store, securing the trailers when they were finished. When store employees opened the store at 7:45 a.m., the padlocks and metal bars were cut from two storage trailers, and when opened, it was found that several items were missing.
A store employee conducted an inventory of one trailer and found that approximately $6,789.33 of merchandise was taken. The merchandise was kept in blue plastic storage bins, and those were taken as well. The amount taken from the second trailer has not yet been determined.
Rite Aid's asset protection district manager told patrol a similar incident happened at the Rite Aid located on High and South Transit streets in December.
Rite Aid will check security cameras to see if the suspect or suspects can be seen. Patrol is also checking with Lincoln Laserwash Car Wash to see if their security cameras caught anything.
The investigation was forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Bureau and is continuing, as the complete inventory is still being calculated.
