A 24-year-old South Street man was arrested Sunday night and charged by Lockport police with armed robbery after a Buffalo woman told police she was robbed by multiple men with a gun and several baseball bats.
Matthew J. Cornelius, 115 South St., Lower Apt., faces charges of first-degree robbery and fourth-degree conspiracy in connection with the case. He is slated to appear in City Court this morning to answer those charges.
Three other people were interviewed by police Sunday night, but as of this morning, only Cornelius has been charged. The investigation is, however, ongoing, according to police.
Another report filed by LPD says that Cornelius is also charged with fifth-degree possession of marijuana and seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance. According to that report, when Cornelius was found, he had three plastic bags containing suspected marijuana in his sweatshirt pocket, as well as a Suboxone strip in a sealed bag. He is also to appear in court this morning for those charges.
