TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A Lockport motorcyclist was charged with driving while impaired by drugs and numerous traffic infractions early Saturday morning.
According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Edward W. Webber, III, 32, 329 Ontario St., was stopped by patrol on Beattie Avenue for speeding and swerving on the road around 3 a.m.
When patrol interviewed him, they found that his left hand was bloody, which he said was due to him punching a curb.
Patrol was then informed via radio that the City of Lockport was looking for someone on a motorcycle involved in a hit and run accident. Information was then relayed by Lockport police the name of operator they were looking for was Edward Webber.
Webber's speech was slurred, and he was very unsteady on his feet. He failed multiple sobriety tests but was found to not have alcohol in his system. He was arrested by NCSO and taken to ENH-Lockport for blood to be drawn and checked for drugs.
He was charged with driving while impaired with drugs, driving on the shoulder of the road, speeding in zone, failure to keep right, uninspected motor vehicle and driving to the left of road markings. He was remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $250 cash bail and ordered to appear in Town of Lockport Court today.
The evidence box containing the blood samples were secured in an NCSO refrigerated locker for further processing.
