ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
There are over 2,000 registered participants from as far as England for Saturday's Mighty Niagara Half Marathon, taking place along the Lower Niagara River.
Now in its fourth year, this family friendly event has quickly become one of the top long distance races in Western New York. The course is very fast, relatively flat and includes a brand new finish line inside Porter-on-the-Lake Park.
The race offers live music played by bands all along the course, free food and drinks for race participants, a free dri-fit t-shirt or draw string bag for participants, a free custom finisher medal, and awards for top runners in each age group, plus a complimentary Mighty Niagara Discount Card good to dozens of Niagara County businesses.
Registration is still open to runners at a cost of $95 per runner.
If 13.1 miles is too much, there's also the Hospice Dash 5K, being held at the same time, starting and finishing at Porter-on-the-Lake-Park. The 5K registration is $38.
The Hospice Dash 5K offers its own rewards, including a Hospice Dash t-shirt or drawstring bag, a custom finisher medal, the Mighty Niagara Discount Card, and trophies for the top male and female finishers. Other perks include a pre-race concert, food and drinks.
Proceeds from both races benefit Niagara Hospice.
