Visit with well-known Lockport art instructor and artist Jack DiMaggio at Lockside Art Center. This first in a series of Meet the Artist events will be Saturday, September 27, 1-4pm. Lockside Art Center is located at 21-41 Main Street (at Pine in Lockview Plaza), in downtown Lockport. For more information, please call 716-478-0239, or email locksideart@cs.com.
Jack welcomes everyone, students, friends, artists; some of his artwork will be on exhibit and for sale.
Now retired, Jack has taught thousands of high school, junior high, and junior college students in Niagara County. His avocation is to enlighten and motivate others to recognize and interpret the aesthetics found in our environment. Quoting Jack: “All things that stimulate and visually excite my eye motivate my creative side to draw and paint. I am an observer of my surroundings through line, value, color, texture, space and composition. Using these elements I am constantly searching for a method to describe the what, where, and when with a variety of mediums and surfaces.”
Jack received his art education at Edinboro University Pennsylvania; his Bachelor's degree at California State University at Fullerton, and his Masters Degree in Art Education at Buffalo State University. Major art influences were his mother, Sarah DiMaggio, and many other well known local artists and teachers: Mr. Wayne Cardy , Miss Marion Hazen, Mr. William Storrs, Mr. Fred Case, and Mr. Joe Whalen.
