The Niagara County Law Enforcement Foundation recently released grant money to assist Niagara County law enforcement agencies acquire much needed equipment.

The Middleport Police Department was awarded $1,000 towards the purchase of an (AED) automated external defibrillator. The Youngstown Police Department was awarded $500 to purchase camera equipment to upgrade their current capabilities. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Mounted Division, Accident Investigation Unit, Honor Guard, and Crisis Negotiation Team were awarded just over $2,000 for much needed equipment that was not funded through their budgets.

Sheriff Jim Voutour praised the foundation, saying, "The Niagara County Law Enforcement Foundation is here to enhance public safety in Niagara County without putting an additional strain on the people we serve."

The Law Enforcement Foundation was founded in 1998 by former Sheriff Thomas A. Beilein and Undersheriff Samuel J. Muscarella, Jr., with the goal to support local law enforcement efforts not funded by tax payer dollars. The Foundation funds projects that support public safety and provides increased safety to the citizens of Niagara County and beyond.
