Shamir W. Allen, aka "DuWop" was arraigned this afternoon in Niagara County Court on numerous felony charges relating to two different crimes in the Town of Lockport and returned to Niagara County Jail on $200,000 cash bail or $400,000 bond.

Stemming from a home invasion on Dysinger Road in March of 2013, Allen is charged with:
  • First-degree burglary (threatening with a weapon), a B Felony
  • First-degree burglary (displaying a loaded firearm), a B Felony
  • Two counts of first-degree robbery
  • Two counts of second-degree assault, D Felonies
Court records say that he "pistol whipped" someone in that incident.

In relation to a burglary in on Day Road on April 29, Allen is charged with:
  • Second-degree burglary, a C Felony
  • Fourth-degree grand larceny (theft of a firearm), an E Felony
An ENP report on the Day Road burglary states, "someone entered the residence and removed property, including a gun safe with a 20-gauge Mossberg shotgun, a rifle, two hunting knives and miscellaneous ammunition. Also stolen was a laptop computer. Total loss was estimated at $3,600."

Represented by Chris Privateer from the county's Public Defender's Office, Allen pled not guilty to the charges.

Privateer was given until Oct. 2 to file motions. And the District Attorney's Office given until Oct. 15 to respond. Pre-trial was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 and trial scheduled for Dec. 8. Bail was set at $200,000 cash or $400,000 bond.
