ENP STAFF REPORTS

TOWN OF LOCKPORT — South Lockport Vol. Fire Co. responded to two car accidents within about 20 minutes this evening.
The first accident took place shortly after 9 p.m. when a car attempted to turn south onto South Transit Road from the Transit Drive-In. The second happened just before 9:30 p.m. in the same manner.
Transit Drive In owner Rick Cohen said the triple feature being shown on Screen 2 was sold out, causing the potential customers to leave, trying to turn left onto the busy street while a line of cars was trying to get in to the drive in, potentially blocking the view.
Asked if a traffic signal might be helpful in front of the drive in, Cohen said he doubted either the Town of Lockport or the state Department of Transportation would support such a measure. "And then there's the question of who's going to pay for it," he added.
Still, Cohen said, "It's just really upsetting to see people get hurt."
It's unknown if there were injuries in the first accident, but there were none reported from the second one.
