A North Transit Street resident told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that someone cashed a $2,200 check that had been made out to him.
The man said that the check — from an insurance company — was cashed on May 8, although he did not cash it, nor did he ever see it.
The man said the check had been mailed to a Town of Lockport address and he believes the homeowners there may have cashed the check.
The insurance company told patrol that they will fax a copy of the cashed check with supporting documents No further information was available regarding the complaint at the time of report. The investigation is ongoing.
