ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com

"Lockport Anonymous," the Facebook page that was the subject of a two-part ENP series Friday night, seems to have been taken offline.

A check of the page this morning revealed that it no longer comes up in a Facebook search. A direct link which previously worked now forwards to the main Facebook page.

The page, in existence for less than two weeks, posted photos of accused drug dealers and their homes. The administrator had told ENP that the purpose of the page was "To make the people aware of their surroundings. To get people talking, and caring, about our city."

LPD Capt. Anthony Palumbo said the city welcomed anyone who wanted to help fight crime, but said he was concerned about the safety for those involved.

"I wouldn't want them getting hurt, obviously," he said. "Any retaliation — people are always fearful of that ... reluctant to get involved because of that."

While some people seemed to like the page — it had more than 1,800 followers Saturday — at least one person said they were "looking into the legality" of the page. It is not known if that is what caused the page to disappear. It is also unknown if the page was taken down by its administrator or if Facebook took it down.

With the page offline, there was no way to contact the administrator for comment.

  2. WOW!!! The administrator had told ENP that the purpose of the page was "To make the people aware of their surroundings. To get people talking, and caring, about our city."

Well the administrator got his wish. People are talking and caring about the fact that people aren't considered innocent until proven guilty, and mob rule is the rule of the people who live there. How scary.

  3. Facebook probably banned them for posting all the personal info (like where she worked) on that one girl who wasn't even arrested. Should have stuck to arrst reports or less personal information.
