SANBORN — The Lockport Rampage improved to 3-0 on the 2014 season and 2-0 in the Northeastern Football Alliance with a defensive victory Saturday over the Nickel City Kings at Niagara Wheatfield High School.

The 6-0 victory was hard-fought, according to Rampage Coach James Mount. The only points of the game came in the first quarter as Derrick Adams scored on a 1-yard run.

From there, defense dominated. Ray Barker led the way for the Rampage with three-and-a-half sacks, seven tackles and a forced fumble. David Gross had three sacks and seven tackles. Marcus Wyche had two-and-a-half sacks and 10 tackles. Tom Covey had 11 tackles. Cliff McDowell had nine tackles and a forced fumble. Wendel Darrell had an interception, and Jeremy Brown had a fumble recovery for a 26-yard return.

The 6-0 win was the lowest scoring game by far for the Rampage yet in their 2014 season. The Lockport team bested the WNY Dragons 30-12 in the NFA opener on May 31 and blew out the Jamestown Chiefs 44-0 in a charity game on May 17.

The Rampage will face off against the Chiefs again on Saturday in the home opener at Outwater Park's Exchange Field Saturday night.
