CANTON — Nearly 550 students graduated from St. Lawrence University during Commencement ceremonies held on May 18, including two from Lockport.
James P. May of Lockport was awarded a degree in mathematics and economics .
Katelyn E. Prue of Lockport was awarded a degree in psychology and philosophy Cum Laude. Prue was also selected for inclusion on the Dean's List for academic achievement during the Spring 2014 semester. Prue graduated from Lockport High School.
To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.
St. Lawrence's Commencement speakers were recipients Grace Potter, Honorary Class of 2014, singer-songwriter from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals; Susan A. Talve, Class of 1975, founding rabbi of the Central Reform Congregation in St. Louis; and Donald K. Rose, Class of 1964, who chaired the St. Lawrence Board of Trustees from 2008 to 2013.
