WRIGHTS CORNERS — Twenty-one-year-old Ryan J.J. Pomeroy was charged Tuesday with criminal mischief for intent to damage property after Niagara County Sheriff's deputies say he kicked a sign for Niagara County Campgrounds, causing it to break in half.
According to the report filed by NCSO, Pomeroy, 6520 Ridge Road, was walking north with two other males on Lockport-Olcott Road around 9 p.m. Tuesday when patrol saw him kick the sign in front of Tops. Patrol then caught up with him at the Wrights Corners McDonald's.
When confronted, Pomeroy admitted to kicking the sign and breaking it in half. He told patrol "it was a dumb decision and he had no right to break the advertisement sign," according to the report filed.
Patrol contacted the owner of the Niagara County Campgrounds and advised her of the damage to her advertisement sign. She told patrol that she wished to pursue criminal charges against the individual who damaged the sign.
Pomeroy was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and given an appearance ticket for Town of Newfane Court on May 27.
East Niagara Post now publishes garage and yard sales.
