ROYALTON — An Appleton man was able to get his family and dogs out of his burning truck before it was fully engulfed in flames Friday night.
According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a vehicle fire on Chestnut Ridge Road around 5:41 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival deputies found a a 2006 Ford F150 parked roadside and fully engulfed in flames. Attached to the vehicle was a 2013 Lared house trailer.
The vehicle's owner told patrol he had smelled something burning while he was driving on Chestnut Ridge Road. Whe he saw flames under the hood of the vehicle, he pulled over immediately and got his family and dogs out of the truck.
Terry's Corners Vol. Fire Co. Chief Christopher McClune-Case and members of the Terry's Corners Vol. Fire Co. arrived and extinguished the fire.
The truck sustained extensive fire damage throughout, and was listed by NCSO as a "total loss." The attached house trailer received some heat damage to the front of it, with an estimated repair cost of at least $1000.
The cause of the fire is unknown. No injuries were reported.
