ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office will be joining forces with other law enforcement agencies across the state for a seatbelt enforcement blitz.
The number of fatal crashes on Niagara County roadways doubled from 2012 to 2013, according to the Sheriff's Office. One out of 10 drivers still refuse to buckle up, though. Data also reflects that seatbelt usage is lower at night than during daylight hours and pickup truck drivers and their passengers buckle up less than others.
Sheriff James Voutour reminds everyone that buckling up continues to be the most effective method of
saving lives and minimizing injuries in a crash, so starting Monday and running through June 1, police statewide will hold a “Click It or Ticket” campaign to remind and encourage residents to buckle up and have a safe summer.
East Niagara Post now publishes garage and yard sales.
