Eight men and one woman are newly graduated from the Niagara County Auxiliary Police Academy.

The graduates, New York State Peace Officers Steven Hausrath, Tony Steward, Heather Grimmer, and Mike Nikonowicz; with new recruits Adam Wind, Lance Froelich, Zakary Darlak, Ken Bak, and Alfred Alison, were honored in a ceremony Wednesday.

All nine graduates received extensive training, covering a variety of police related topics and physical fitness including traffic control, crowd control, and defensive tactics.

The five new recruits of the Niagara County Auxiliary Police will complete an additional academy held by Niagara University's Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy, to become certified New York State Peace Officers.
