The 7-Eleven at 6955 Ward Road in the Town of Wheatfield was robbed early this morning, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
According to NCSO, the department received a 911 call from the clerk around 2:22 a.m. reporting that he had just been robbed. The suspect threatened the use of a firearm and demanded cash from the cash register, but no gun was displayed. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during the robbery.
The suspect, a white male, 5-foot 8-inches or 5-foot 9-inches and approximately 175 pounds, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and gray sneakers, fled the scene on foot, southbound on Ward Road. A Niagara County canine was called to the scene in an effort to track the suspect. The Niagara County Crime Scene Identification Unit and Criminal Investigation Bureau also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The Criminal Investigation Bureau is continuing the investigation into the robbery.
Earlier in the evening, the Sunoco gas station at Transit and High streets in Lockport was robbed. Last week another 7-Eleven in Wheatfield — this one on Plaza Drive — was robbed once and an attempt to rob it failed.
