Niagara Hospice is looking for summer interns specializing in marketing and event coordinating.

The internships are made possible through the Grigg Lewis Foundation’s Workership Program. The primary focus of the Workership opportunities is to provide financial assistance to area college students; to allow local institutions to expand their summer programming and to benefit the entire community by the expanded and improved programs of the agencies.

Patricia Degan, Niagara Hospice director of marketing and public relations, said, “We are extremely grateful to the Grigg Lewis Foundation for creating and supporting this program. We have had many qualified students spend their summers with us. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn have benefitted Niagara Hospice greatly; in fact we have hired, in some capacity, at least five of our past interns upon graduation from college.”

Anyone interested in applying for the workership positions must be a college student who will be returning to his or her studies in the fall of 2014, or a high school graduate who has been accepted at an accredited college for fall 2014.

The Marketing & Public Relations Intern position will play an integral part in the marketing and public relations of Niagara Hospice throughout the course of the summer, helping to develop promotional and educational materials, participating in marketing & PR activities for Niagara Hospice that will include research and data compilation, and assisting with community outreach initiatives and special events to help increase awareness and funding for Niagara Hospice. Necessary skills include graphic design, Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite preferred, MS Office, writing, multitasking, as well as general office, organization and social media skills.

A student with career goals in the fundraising, event planning, marketing and public relations fields will benefit from the Special Events Internship. The student will be involved in the planning and execution of fundraisers during the summer. Necessary skills include desktop publishing, MS Office, writing, general office skills, multitasking, organization and superior telephone etiquette.

Applicants for these positions need not attend college in Niagara County but their permanent residence must be in East Niagara. To apply, applicants may visit the Careers page of the Niagara Hospice website for more information and application instructions.
