A Home Depot employee reported to Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that on Feb. 14 a man received a refund of $430.92 on a sink he had not bought.

According to a report by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the male entered the Town of Lockport store's northeastern doors with an empty shopping cart. He then proceeded to the back of the store, where he is not shown by camera's view re-emerging into the view of the camera with a $399 sink in his cart.

He approached the customer service counter and advises the clerk that he wished to return the sink but did not have a receipt. The return was processed and the man was given a store credit card worth $430.92.

The Home Depot loss prevention team believes that the same man is responsible for similar incidents in Dunkirk, Olean, and Batavia stores. The Sheriff's Office is to follow up with the proper agencies.

Patrol is meeting with the Home Depot clerk today with a photo array to compare to the man in question. Charges are pending.
