East Niagara got several inches of snow on Wednesday, leading to the closure of several government offices and the early dismissal of Lockport schools.

People around town made the best of it, though, when they weren't sliding off the road - as many did. Emergency response crews and tow trucks around East Niagara were kept busy from all the snow.

Overnight weather calls for scattered snow showers before 2 a.m., then a chance for flurries with a low around 10 degrees. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

County Offices including Niagara County Court in Lockport, closed on Wednesday due to the storm which produced over a foot of snow in parts of the county. Here two people unaware of the travel advisory and county building closure walk through the vacant parking lot towards the entrance.
Lockport City School Districts closed an hour early on Wednesday due to the storm which produced heavy snow for much of the day. At George Southard Elementary School, teacher Holly Vaeth leads her students back into school however, because many of the buses were not yet present for the emergency early dismissal. The district announced the early emergency closing via email, text, and voice mail messages. Not all parents received the notification, though, leading to some concerned parents in social media outlets questioning the district's decision.
