Multiple sources within City Hall report that Lockport Mayor Mike Tucker will resign his position sometime today.

A morning press conference was reportedly planned but then canceled, officials said.

A release is said to be forthcoming, although it's uncertain whether the release would be coming from Tucker or from Common Council President Anne McCaffrey, who would be appointed as interim mayor when the mayor resigns.

Tucker, who has been mayor since 2004, has been embroiled in a situation involving the alleged misuse of a city credit card. He has also taken heat for the city's fiscal problems, including a poor showing on a recent audit. Friday morning auditors were in City Hall continuing to do work on an ongoing study into city finances.
