Lockport's Palace Theatre is asking for a little help from its friends.
The community theater is holding a "Shrek Costume Challenge," asking local businesses and citizens to sponsor costumes for the upcoming production of "Shrek: The Musical."
According to a Facebook post by the Palace, "We are challenging each supporter to donate $100 to sponsor a character costume in the show and in the end help cover the rental cost. With 60 days until the opening of the show and 60 costumes in the show, we will be introducing a character everyday for you to meet."
The characters are being "introduced" on the theater's Facebook page. Introduced so far are Shrek, Fiona and Donkey.
Sponsorship is not limited to businesses. The Palace suggests that community members form teams "and bring together friends and family with each person donating something as simple as $5 to reach your goal. Groups such as Girl Scout or Boy Scout troops, sports teams, or church groups can all come together and participate."
Each sponsor or team will receive two VIP tickets to see a special preview on March 12, playbill recognition and a change to meet and greet with the cast at a catered reception.
Visit the Palace website for more information or to donate.
