King Harvest is holding a video contest for their top-selling song, "Dancing in the Moonlight."
The band, co-founded by Newfane native Ron Altbach while living in Paris in 1970, produced the song in the early 1970s. It peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 1973.
The contest asks people to play, sing, dance or frolic to the song and distribute it as a YouTube video. The band is promoting the contest through their Facebook page, facebook.com/ditmvideo. Entries posted between Dec. 22 and Jan. 30 will be eligible for an as-yet-determined prize.
The band's lead singer, Dave "Doc" Robinson, died one year ago today at age 67. The band created a tribute song called “Doc,” in Robinson’s memory, at a concert in Olcott in July.
The band also performed a free concert in Olcott in 2012.
Watch the YouTube video above for more details on the contest.
