CONTRIBUTED PHOTO -- Lockport Mayor Michael Tucker helps Santa Claus and the 2012 coloring contest winners light the tree at the Palace Theater during last year's Light up Lockport Christmastime in the City. This year's event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Lockport.
Light Up Lockport's annual Christmastime in the City event will kick off with a free showing of Elf at the Palace Theatre Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

Following the movie, there will be events spread out around downtown Lockport until 4 p.m. including story time with Mrs. Claus, horse and carriage rides, a living Nativity, pictures with Santa, crafts and a petting zoo.

The full event list with times follows:

  • 10 a.m. - Free Movie at the Palace Theatre - "The Elf"
  • 11:30 a.m. - Coloring Contest Awards after the movie at the Palace
  • Noon to 1 p.m. - Papa Leo's will have story time with Mrs Claus and a free slice of Pizza
  • Noon to 3 p.m. - A Living Nativity scene, crafts, cookies and hot chocolate at Emmanuel United Methodist Church
  • Noon to 3 p.m. - Lockport Lions eye exams
  • Noon to 3 p.m. - Kids crafts at the Lockport Public Library
  • Noon to 4 p.m. - Finger printing by Lockport Police Captain Mike Niethe.
  • Noon to 4 p.m. - Horse and Carriage rides to Dale Association, up to Emmanuel Methodist Church for crafts and Nativity Displays 
  • Noon to 4 p.m. - Pictures with Santa, balloon clown, face painting, and cookie decorating at the Dale Association
  • Plus - Lighting of the Christmas Tree with assistance of Magic Dust and Elves, fire station tours on the half hour, and a petting zoo located at Canal Street parking lot.
