TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 24-year-old Robinson Road man was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop Friday morning.

According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Alan J. Benson, 6309 Robinson Road, Apt. 4, failed to yield to a tractor trailer on Robinson Road when he pulled out of the Sunoco station at approximately 12:03 a.m.

When NCSO stopped him in the parking lot of his apartment complex, patrol could smell an odor of fresh marijuana emanating from the vehicle. They found a clear plastic sandwich bag full of a suspected marijuana and a scale in a red tin container.

Benson was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana and a traffic summons for failure to yield the right of way upon entering the roadway. He is due to appear in the Town of Lockport Court on April 21.
