GASPORT — A spare key hidden outside an Asher Street home was used to gain entry to the home late Friday night, when a $6,500 wedding ring was stolen, according to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

The complainant told patrol early Saturday morning that she had removed the ring and put it on her dresser around 8:30 p.m. Friday before leaving her home with her husband. When she returned three hours later, it was gone.

The woman said the doors to the home were all locked, but a spare key which is normally hidden outside the home was missing.

The ring is described as "a silver and white gold band with a half karat diamond setting in the center. The band is lined with five smaller diamonds."

Nothing else was disturbed inside the residence and no other items appeared to be missing.

This case will be forwarded to Criminal Investigations Bureau.
