Jason Yalowich
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Niagara County Sheriff's deputies say a Woodlands resident had a blood alcohol content of more than three times the legal limit when they arrested him Saturday morning.

Thirty-two-year-old Jason S. Yalowich, 357 Knotty Pine Dr., was found shortly before 4 a.m. with his car in a ditch on Old Beattie Road, according to the arrest report.

Yalowich told patrol that his car had lost traction, causing it to strike a utility pole and go into the ditch, but patrol saw signs of intoxication and could detect an odor of alcohol on his breath.

Yalowich said he had a martini at a bar in Buffalo six hours prior, but he failed several sobriety tests, the report said. And a roadside preliminary breath test registered a blood alcohol content of .292 percent. A later breath test provided at the Niagara County Jail showed a BAC of .25 percent.

Yalowich was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely, unregistered motor vehicle, and uninspected motor vehicle. He was then remanded to the Niagara County Jail with bail set in the amount of $250. His car was towed and a 12-hour hold was placed on it. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lockport Court on June 3.
