Lockport area gas prices hold steady

Local gas prices held at about $3.81 a gallon over the last week, according to AAA East Central. The actual average was $3.806, down a fraction of a cent from the $3.812 is was a week ago, and 12 cents higher than a year ago when it was $3.684.

Entering the summer months, AAA expects that drivers will experience little relief at the pump and prices are likely to remain near a range of $3.55-$3.70 per gallon nationally, which is similar to last summer’s range of $3.47-$3.67. One week into the summer driving season, the national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $3.66 per gallon. This is about five cents more than on the same date last year.

On the NYMEX, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil was trading at $102.51 per barrel today.
