TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Someone got away with $1,360 from a South Transit Road restaurant after throwing a brick through the window late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

According to a report filed with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a brick was thrown through the double-pane window on the west side Kalamata Family Restaurant, 5690 South Transit Road, sometime between 10:10 p.m. Tuesday and 5:56 a.m. Wednesday.

Employees said the money was stolen out of the cash register, which appeared to have been opened with a passcode. The coin tray appeared to have been lifted from the cash drawer and was left on the floor along with several pieces of paper.

Outside of the broken window, laying in the grass, was a Lefas Virgin Olive Oil metal container, which employees stated was originally on the window sill as decoration. It appeared that the suspect moved the container off the window sill and placed it on the ground after throwing a brick through the window. The brick was located under one of the tables about 15 feet into the restaurant.

At the time of the report, a representative from Alarm Design System was en route to access the video surveillance system for the business and the case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Bureau for further review.
