The Friday night death of a 37-year-old woman on Niagara Street was not likely the result of foul play, Lockport police now say.

Original reports said police were looking into it as having possibly been a homicide. Later police called the death "suspicious."

An autopsy was to be done on the woman — who's name has not yet been released — on Monday. Officials are also waiting on toxicology reports for help in determining the cause of death.

Police interviewed people in the neighborhood of 290 Niagara Street, where the woman was found. Those interviews resulted in the arrest 56-year-old  Roman Nelson, 290 Niagara St., for giving a false statement in connection to the investigation.
