ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
Niagara Hospice is looking for community members interested in experiences that make a positive impact on the lives of others, as well as their own to attend the next hospice volunteer training to be held from 5 - 9 p.m. Tuesday. The spring training is being offered for new volunteers who want to join the exceptional Niagara Hospice volunteer team.
Hospice volunteers provide companionship and support for patients by visiting them in their home, or in the nursing home or assisted living facility. Volunteer activities include conversation and reminiscing; putting together puzzles or playing games; running errands for the family; or simply just holding a hand and listening. Volunteer positions include patient related and non-patient related jobs. Visits take place in the patient’s or caregiver’s home, at Niagara Hospice House, and at area long term care facilities where hospice patients reside. The agency is especially in need of volunteers from the Niagara Falls area. Non-patient related opportunities include helping with community outreach, clerical tasks and fundraising efforts of Niagara Hospice.
The Tuesday training will be held at the administrative building on the Niagara Hospice campus at 4675 Sunset Drive in Lockport. Anyone interested can contact the volunteer office at 280-0748 for an application and to register. More information and volunteer applications are also available at www.NiagaraHospice.org.
