TOWN OF LOCKPORT -- Niagara County Auxiliary Police are holding an open house and recruitment drive from noon - 4 p.m. on May 21 at the Public Safety Training Facility, 5574 Niagara St. Ext, next to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

Attendees will be able to explore the opportunities and learn the qualifications and time commitments of auxiliary police officers. There will be tours of the building and vehicles. Uniforms and police equipment will be on display and current NCAP officers will be in attendance to answer any questions.

Niagara County Auxiliary Police officers must be 21 by the time they graduate from the academy. They must have a valid New York state driver's license and high school diploma or GED. They must be able to pass a physical exam, drug test and mental health exam, among other requirements.

The open house is geared for people who may be interested in volunteering to serve the community as an auxiliary police officer, as well as those looking to go into a career in law enforcement.
