TORONTO -- Sam Reinhart scored the lone shootout goal Monday night in the matchup between the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs, giving the Sabres the 4-3 victory.
The Sabres started the third period down a pair of goals before Jack Eichel scored at 7:28, assisted by Matt Moulson and Cal O'Reilly to make it 3-2. It was Eichel's 20th of his rookie season. Evander Kane scored at 10:41, assisted by Reinhart to tie the game at 3-all, sending it into overtime.
Toronto took the lead with first period goals by Leo Komarov and Brad Boyes. Komarov's goal came just 25 seconds into the opening period. Boyes scored at 11:05 for the 2-0 lead.
In the second period, Buffalo and Toronto traded goals with Buffalo's Mark Pysyk scoring at 16:23 and Toronto's Zach Hyman notching his goal at 19:41 to put the Leafs up 3-1.
The Sabres next play the New York Rangers Tuesday night.
