Margaret “Marge” Schomers,

Margaret “Marge” Schomers
Margaret “Marge” Schomers passed away March 10, 2016 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY.  Marge was born September 8, 1928 in Lockport, NY. She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret Cathcart Lardner. Marge graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science Degree as a Clinical Pathology Technician. She started her career at Lockport Memorial Hospital and retired from Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in 1991. Marge was the longtime director of the Lockport Duplicate Bridge game held at the Dale Association where she also taught bridge as part of the community education program. She earned the Silver Life Master level of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). She was awarded the Duncan Nixon Memorial Award for her volunteer service at the Dale Association where she also volunteered her services as a tax preparer. She received the Kenan Center Volunteer Recognition Award for her years as a member and treasurer of the Kenan Arts Council. Marge also enjoyed traveling Europe with her late husband, William J. Schomers who passed away July 14, 2003.

Marge was the mother of Mark W. Schomers of Elizabeth City, NC, Patricia (Robert) Russell of Lockport, Diane Marie Taillon of Wisconsin and the late Michael Schomers; grandmother of David and Brian Russell, Stafford and Elliot Taillon and Charlize Schomers. Marge is also survived by her sister Shirley (the late Duane) Murdock of Lockport, brothers Vincent (Mary Kay) Lardner of Albuquerque, N.M.,and Martin (Joan) Lardner of Gasport, N.Y., her daughter-in-law Jennifer Schomers of Toronto, Canada and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Monday March 21, 2016 at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport, NY. Memorials in memory of Marge may be made to the Lockport Senior Center, St John’s Outreach or Lockport College Women’s Club’s Scholarship Fund would be appreciated by the family.
